The Arvigo Techniques of Maya Abdominal Therapy™, created by Dr. Rosita Arvigo in collaboration with Maya Shaman, Don Elijio Panti, is an external, non-invasive massage technique intended to guide abdominal and reproductive organs into their proper position for optimum health and well being. ATMAT improves organ function by releasing physical and emotional congestion thus facilitating better oxygen, blood, and energy flow of the circulatory, lymphatic, and nervous systems. The technique combines anatomy, physiology, herbology and naprapathy (study of the ligaments, joints and muscles), with Ancient Maya healing techniques to address common female and male complaints.

Follow-up sessions of either 60 or 90 minutes in length will be discussed with your practitioner. In order to affect a positive change it is wise to receive 3-5 treatments before assessing if the abdominal therapy is effective for you. Deeper Tissue Massage decreases pain, improves oxygenation and nutrition to muscles, tendons and ligaments while improving mobility and flexibility. This form of bodywork aims to relieve tension in the deeper tissue layers of the body. It is a highly effective method for releasing chronic stress areas due to misalignment, repetitive motions, and past lingering injuries. It is recommended that you receive at least one follow-up session to address any residual tension in the deeper layers. This follow-up is best done within a week of the initial session. Once the stress in the tissue is released, it is recommended to return for maintenance therapy every 4 to 6 weeks.
Traditional European Cupping Therapy has been used for thousands of years as a way to enhance blood and lymph circulation of tight muscles. Hippocrates, the Father of Modern Medicine, was a keen observer of the benefits of cupping and believed in its power to affect muscle dysfunction due to poor nutrition, lack of adequate body movement, and exposure to adverse weather conditions. Cupping is GREAT for respiratory conditions (colds and coughs WITHOUT fever) and very tight muscles! This therapy involves a setting or sliding of the cups with little actual massage given.
CranioSacral Therapy is a gentle, non-invasive hands-on technique used to balance the cerebrospinal fluid contained within the spinal cord and brain. CST encourages the body's natural healing ability to dissipate the negative effects of stress and improve the body's internal environment. CranioSacral Therapy is used for a variety of problems associated with pain and dysfunction including: migraine headaches, chronic back and neck pain, TMJ, emotional imbalance, chronic fatigue, fibromyalgia and other connective tissue issues.
One way to think of the healing energy of plants:
the body of the plant = herbal tinctures
the blood of the plant = essential oils
the mind of the plant = flower essences
A Flower Essence Consultation involves discussion about your health history as well as any emotional, spiritual, and physical states you are wishing to change. Several techniques are used to find the core imbalance and a custom flower essence remedy is suggested with dosage instructions and further details of its use. Flower essence remedies are usually taken several times a day, under the tongue but can also be applied directly to the body or misted into the air with a spray bottle. Cost of personalized remedies are separate from your consultation fee.

Benefits of Prenatal Massage Therapy
Postpartum Abdominal Therapy is designed to help restore your body to its pre-pregnancy condition and to address the stress of carrying, and caring for, your baby. It can speed recovery by bringing relief to sore muscles and by improving your overall circulation.
The Arvigo Techniques of Maya Abdominal Therapy™ helps shrink the uterus, stimulate lymphatic flow, balance your digestive system, and relieve scar tissue congestion. It also helps to strengthen your body for future pregnancies. Research shows that it can take up to three years for a woman’s uterus to recover after pregnancy and giving birth. You deserve the time to heal and recharge. Postpartum is the final stage of pregnancy.
If you had a C-section (caesarean) birth, scar tissue treatment is highly suggested as part of your postpartum recovery. An additional 30 minute scar treatment can be added to a 60 minute Postpartum Abdominal Therapy session for $45.
